MALAMA is an architecture + research studio founded by Carinnya Feaunati. Inspired by her maternal grandmother, Malama— a woman who stood steadfast in her values of family, faith, and culture. In Samoan, malama means coming to light, being clear and understanding.

MALAMA Architecture
is dedicated to designing spaces that celebrate the identity and culture of Aotearoa and the wider Pacific. Grounded in cultural values, environmental stewardship and being future-ready, we create environments that celebrate living, encourage us to reflect and spaces that bring people together.

MALAMA Research
is the think tank that has a million questions. It’s the curiosity that comes when architecture, environmental science, and cultural anthropology intersect. Our research seeks to uncover insights that inform better design, shape policy, amplify Indigenous knowledge, and address climate challenges in the Pacific region and beyond.

MALAMA Advocacy MAD
supports architectural students and aspiring architects in Aotearoa, offering mentoring and resources for coursework and professional registration.
